Dal Dhokli: The Traditional Sunday Morning Delight

Dal dhokli is a Sunday morning delight in most traditional Gujarati households! A perfect combination of spiced whole wheat flour dhokli simmered in gujarati dal, this can be classified as a sumptuous one-dish meal, but you could also serve it with rice to make it all the more tasty and wholesome.

The spices are added to the wheat flour while kneading and, once ready, it is thinly rolled and cut in any shape like squares or circles, these cut pieces are called dhokli. These dhoklis are added to the prepared dal which cooks them slowly within the dal and hence the name dal dhokli. It gives a nice variation to your regular meal.
