Artisans from Nagaland, Tripura, Chhattisgarh, Goa, Jammu and Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh and Jharkhand among other states are showcasing their craft and are drawing huge crowd. The rich craftworks varying from stone painting, jute wall hanging, kite designing, rice-husk jewellery, and coconut carving to ancient iron craft along with traditional Gujarati handicrafts like Patola, Lacquer, Pithora paintings, wood carving, woolen shawls and Tangaliya embroidery are brought in at the exhibition.
The 7-day Garvi Gurjari national craft fair and summit 2014 will continue till Thursday, 27th February 2014. Over 600 artists from 19 states are participating in this fair and more than 400 handicraft workers from Gujarat have placed their pavilion. Sahaj, a trade fair organization has set up a replica of tribal village displaying lifestyle and craftworks of tribal people.
Institutes like NID, CEPT, NIFT and Institute of Interior Designers are displaying the works of their students. There is a live demonstration of various kinds of crafts such as stone work, weaving, kite designing and sculptors. The extravaganza has been organized by state government and Industrial extension cottage (INDEXT-C) in association with Confederation of Indian Industries. (CII)
